Please note the following:

  • The Academic Year is comprised of three sessions - Fall, Winter, Summer.  The Summer session is subdivided into two terms - May/June and July/August.
  • In the following schedule of Sessional Dates and Deadlines, “full-year” courses refer to courses which run through both the Fall and Winter sessions.
  • Each department may also have deadlines related to these general Sessional Dates and Deadlines.
  • Some OISE Sessional Dates differ from the School of Graduate Studies Sessional Dates - please refer to the SGS Calendar for details.
  • Please read the University’s policy on Scheduling of Classes and Examinations and Other Accommodations for Religious Observances.
  • The OISE Bulletin provides detailed information about our programs, course descriptions, policies, fees and financial support. The University reserves the right to alter the manner in which it delivers its courses, co-curricular opportunities, programs and services in response to health and safety emergencies and public health guidance.

2025 Summer Session

Course selection/enrolment for 2025 Summer Session (both May-to-June and July-to-August terms) begins at 6:00 am via ACORN. 
The 2025 Summer course schedule and selection information was released on Wed. March 12th.

NOTE: The Summer session at OISE consists of two 6-week periods: May-June (F) and July-August (S). Course numbers ending with (Y)  run from May-August. The term "Intersession" is historically used for the May-June period. Instructors compensate for any classes that may fall on a holiday.

  • the first period (May to June) of the summer session runs from Monday, May 05, 2025 to June 13, 2025.
  • the second period (July to August) of the summer session runs from Monday, July 07, 2025 to August 15, 2025.
T April 1Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a Non-Degree (Special) Student to the 2025 Summer session first term (May).
W April 2ACORN enrollment activities suspended today. Courses may have spaces that are restricted to certain groups of students. Courses may also have spaces that are temporarily reserved for certain groups of students. All Summer 2025 session enrollment activities are suspended on April 2nd, while enrollment restrictions are modified to allow other student categories to enroll in any unused spaces in certain courses. On April 3rd 12:00 AM enrollment opens with new enrollment controls, per individual Course Comment on the course schedule.
Th May 1Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a Non-Degree (Special) Student to the 2025 Summer session second term (July).
F May 2Registration deadline for students registering or starting their program in the Summer (May to August) session; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed. Minimum required payment due (unpaid fees from previous session[s] + 50% of Summer session tuition fees). M May 5Classes begin for Summer session May/June (20255F) and May-August (20255) courses. Note: The Summer session at OISE typically consists of two 6-week terms: May/June and July/August. Six weeks sessions run from May 5 - June 13, 2025. Instructors are expected to compensate for any classes that fall on a holiday.
W May 7Waitlists will be cancelled for May-to-June courses. Final date to enroll in May/June term courses via ACORN.
From May 8 to May 12, instructor signed and department-approved course add forms are required.

T July 15Intent to Graduate: Final date for master's students expecting to finish all degree requirements in Summer to submit the OISE Intent to Graduate form. Students who complete in Summer will graduate at Fall (November) Convocation.

2025 Fall Session

The first cycle of course enrolment for Fall and full year courses is July 8 to July 22.  There is no enrolment on July 23. On July 24, enrolment will reopen and unused spaces in some courses are opened to other student categories as noted in course comments on the Course Schedule
M July 14Registration for 2025 Fall and 2026 Winter session begins. 

To be registered, students must pay at least the Minimum Payment to Register Amount displayed on their current session ACORN invoice or have an approved request to register without payment (fee deferral) in place before the SGS registration deadline. A student's status will change from "Invited" to "Registered" on ACORN when registration is complete.

Students who are recipients of a Graduate Funding Package and successfully register without payment (defer fees) should arrange to make payments throughout the academic year as they receive funding from their scholarship, award, or other sources. Full payment of Fall and Winter session tuition and residence fees is due by April 30 at the latest. Other students who successfully register without payment (e.g., defer fees with an OSAP loan, another provincial loan, or US loan) must make their payment(s) by their deferral type deadline. After the deadline based on a student's deferral type, monthly service charges on unpaid fees will be billed on their ACORN invoice on the 15th of every month until paid in full. Visit the Student Accounts website and select a tuition deferral type to view payment and service charge billing deadlines. Students registered in the Fall and Winter sessions are not normally charged Summer fees. For students starting in the Summer, fees will appear in their ACORN invoice accordingly.
T July 15Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a non-degree (Special) Student to the 2025 Fall Session.
W July 23There is no course enrolment for all courses on July 23 and October 8.  You can add a course to your enrolment cart, but will not be able to take any other action on these dates. You cannot enroll, drop, modify or join the waitlist until 12 am EST on the next day.
Th July 24Course enrolment reopens for 2025 Fall, 2026 Winter, and full-year courses.
W July 30Master of Teaching and MA-Child Study and Education programs final date to request a deferral of admission from the 2025 Fall session to the 2026 Fall Session. For all other programs, the deadline is September 12 (three weeks before the registration deadline).
M August 5Civic Holiday (University closed)
F Aug 22Recommended date for tuition fee payment for students registering or starting their program in the Fall session. Payment by this date ensures that it is received by the registration deadline of September 12 and avoids cancellation of registration and course enrolment.

International students must make a payment by this date to ensure they are covered by the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) at the beginning of September (. 
F August 29Deadline for receipt of  Individual Reading and Research Course approval forms approval forms for Fall session and full-year courses. Submit fully completed and authorized forms to the Registrar's Office and Student Experience, Registration Team. OISE graduate programs restrict the maximum number of IRR courses that a student can take - see the IRR form for details.
Su August 31Deadline for new students to satisfy all conditions of admission, otherwise course enrolment and registration is cancelled and offer of admission is withdrawn.

Required for those students graduating at Fall convocation:

  1. Final grades for all courses on ACORN; all course extensions (SDFs) must be resolved.
  2. Departmental MRP completion forms for students in a program with a MRP requirement.
  3. Signed Departmental Degree Recommendation forms for master's students completing a thesis. (By September 26, students must forward the email from ETC/ProQuest to ROSE which confirms that the final master's thesis has been uploaded).
  4. Receipt of notification for addition of completed emphasis/field of study to appropriate student records.
  5. Confirmation of completed collaborative specializations from the collaborative specialization office. Students are expected to notify their collaborative specialization administrator that they will be graduating.
  6. For doctoral candidates, the final thesis must be uploaded by September 12 to avoid fee charges for the 2025-26. To graduate for the Fall convocation, the thesis must be successfully uploaded by September 26.
F September 12Final date to add full-year and Fall session courses via ACORN.
F September 12Waitlists will be cancelled for full-year and Fall session courses.

  • Degree recommendations from Departments are received. Fully-signed and approved Recommendation for Master's Degree forms from the Department must be received by the Registrar's Office and Student Experience (ROSE), Registration unit (Note: be sure to plan ahead for signing time).
  • MRP/Thesis is uploaded, and proof of thesis upload email from the ProQuest ETD Administrator is forwarded to the Registration unit in ROSE. (NOTE: Many thesis uploads require formatting and corrections to be finalized. Be sure to leave plenty of time for editing.)
